Learn to Earn Program

What is it?
The Learn to Earn program is a way for parents to earn points towards the items needed to care for a baby in their home. Points are then translated into "money" with one point equaling one dollar. We encourage everyone who participates to read books and watch videos on pregnancy, parenting, child development, pre-natal care, nutrition, and other subjects such as abstinence, adoption and abortion. You may earn points by attending classes such as car seat clinics, parenting classes, and other approved events. This is a way of educating yourself on topics and issues that you will need to know as a parent.

How does it work?
Items listed are available to clients in exchange for the appropriate points listed. Baby equipment, furniture, and clothing have been donated either new or used.

Earning Points
Books and videos, are either one or two points depending on the size/length. Videos must stay at the Center, books may be checked out and must be returned within a 2-week period. You may take 2 books at a time. Classes also count for points that will be determined at the time. (Double points if the man participates also.)

Clothes Closet Policy & Procedure

  1. Clothes and baby items are donated to our center to provide for families in our area who are in need.

  2. In order to best meet the needs of you and your child, we ask that you meet with a PLCC counselor for initial information session before choosing your items from the Clothes Closet. During this session the counselor will provide you with information on clothes closet policies along with information about resources available to you in our community.

  3. In order to help as many families as possible, we ask for your cooperation in only taking items that you need for the moment and current season.

  4. If you are a pregnant Clothes Closet client, when you are close to your due date, we will try to provide you with a reasonable number of baby items and a basic layette to be ready to bring your baby home from the hospital, along with continued support from PLCC staff.

  5. We also ask for your help in blessing other families in our area. If your child has outgrown clothes or other items, items remaining in nice condition can be donated to the Clothes Closet.
*Points are not awarded for donations.
